about tim
"I am fascinated by the explanations we build around ourselves to account for our own existence and by the interaction of our genetic and cultural inheritance with our own individual experience." - Tim Morgan, 2001

Tim Morgan was born in Kent in 1970 and studied at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication (1989-90), Edinburgh College of Art (1990-91, 1996-98 and a postgraduate diploma, 1998-99) and the Royal College of Art, London (1999-2001). He was awarded the Andrew Grant Postgraduate Scholarship at Edinburgh College of Art in 1998 and the Royal College and Borders Group Prize in 2001.

Whilst at the Royal College of Art, Tim was commissioned by the Contemporary Art Society and Economist magazine to make a sculpture for exhibition in the Economist Plaza in St James’s over the millennium period. After successfully completing this project he was offered an internship with James Carpenter Design Associates, a downtown Manhattan architectural practice, widely respected in particular for their innovative and creative use of glass. During his time with JCDA, Tim had the opportunity to work on a number of exciting projects for buildings in the USA and London. Since graduating Tim has exhibited widely and taught as a visiting lecturer at Surrey Institute of Art and Design, University College, Farnham. His work has been selected for the prestigious Bombay Sapphire Blue Room Exhibition and commissioned by, among others, Cass Sculpture Foundation.

In October 2003, Tim started work on the Boat Villa project, a beautiful stone-built cottage in the scenic Wye Valley in Wales, in need of significant renovation. This project gave Tim the opportunity to translate his knowledge in glass, architecture and design, as well as his skills as a maker and designer into building a contemporary living space within a traditional frame. The project was completed and the house sold in August 2006. At the end of September 2006, Tim took a break from work to fulfil a dream, riding his motorbike solo from Montreal, Canada to Buenos Aires, Argentina. He arrived in Buenos Aires in June 2007 having ridden 23,000 miles across eleven countries.

Tim lives and works near Hereford and also runs a studio & gallery in London Bridge.
